If you are around my age, or older, you might remember the floppy-bonnetted book character turned licensed character, Holly Hobbie.  When I was student teacher several (ew, several?) years ago, I nearly passed out when I learned that Holly Hobbie was still around, creating Toot and Puddle.   I am in love with this author/illustrator’s watercolors.  She really knows how to play up her darks and lights, something that I am obsessed with.  And she draws and paints with confidence!  Look at those hard lines outlining her images!  And the cool shadows and warm sunlight splotches on the bus seats?  Magic.  Seven years later and I am just as big of a fan, if not bigger.  And as an added bonus, I get to read Toot and Puddle to my son.
