It was fun to look at an old sketchbook today and see which sketches looked good together…these are grouped because they are primarily single-subject paintings with a plain white background….I love the simplicity.  The other thing I love about taking the time to draw something is that it creates a memory.  My mind is immediately drawn the the bed and breakfast in Scotland where I stayed and drew that water goblet.  I think of the geraniums on the deck of my parents’ house in Spokane on a warm summer day with a cool breeze.  The bananas, are, well, just bananas, but the lamp I still own, and it represents many a night of burning the midnight oil in high school.  The memories are seared into my brain by creating these paintings.  The art of remembering!
